Agent-Reach: One CLI for AI Agents to Read the Internet
Agent-Reach gives your AI agent a single CLI to read and search Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, GitHub, Bilibili, and XiaoHongShu — no API keys, no per-platform scrapers to maintain.
TL;DR: Agent-Reach is a Python CLI that wraps read-and-search access to half a dozen platforms your AI agents probably want to query — Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, GitHub, Bilibili, XiaoHongShu. It hides the per-platform auth, scraping, and rate-limit handling behind one consistent interface.

What It Is
Agent-Reach is a single CLI tool aimed at AI agent developers. The pitch is simple: instead of writing six different scrapers and managing six different API keys to let your agent read social platforms, you install one tool and call one interface. Underneath, Agent-Reach implements platform-specific adapters that handle authentication, request signing, pagination, and HTML cleaning.
The supported platforms cover most of what an agent actually wants to query:
- Twitter for posts and threads.
- Reddit for posts, comments, and subreddit listings.
- YouTube for transcripts, video metadata, and search.
- GitHub for repos, issues, and code search.
- Bilibili for video metadata, danmaku, and subtitles (Chinese audience).
- XiaoHongShu for posts and product reviews (Chinese audience).
Each adapter normalizes its output to a common schema, so an agent calling agent-reach search "topic" gets roughly the same shape of result regardless of which platform is asked.
Why It Matters
Most “agent can browse the web” demos in the wild are lying. They work for a few hand-picked sites and break the moment the platform changes its HTML or signs its requests differently. Maintaining a real cross-platform scraper farm is a part-time job you don’t want to give your agent team.
Agent-Reach consolidates that work into a single dependency:
- Consistent schema. The agent’s tool definition doesn’t have to know about per-platform quirks. One function signature, multiple backends.
- No per-platform auth dance. Tokens are configured once at the CLI level. The agent just calls the tool.
- Read-only by design. The library is built for agents that read and search, not for ones that post or interact. That scope discipline is exactly what most agent builders actually want.
- Chinese platform support. Bilibili and XiaoHongShu coverage is unusual for an English-first project. If your agent serves a Chinese-speaking audience, this is otherwise painful to DIY.
The MIT license and Python packaging make it easy to drop into any agent stack — LangChain, LlamaIndex, raw OpenAI function calling, or a custom orchestrator.
Practical Trade-Offs
A few caveats:
- Some adapters need API keys. Twitter especially still requires you to bring your own bearer token for reliable access. “No API keys” in the description is aspirational for the most locked-down platforms.
- Read-only. You can’t post, reply, or follow from the agent. If your agent needs to write, look elsewhere.
- Quality varies by platform. GitHub and Reddit adapters are mature. Video transcript extraction from YouTube and Bilibili works well for popular content and degrades for obscure videos.
- Rate limits exist. The CLI handles them gracefully (backoff, retries) but doesn’t make them disappear. Heavy use on shared platforms may still get you throttled.
These are honest constraints of the underlying platforms, not bugs in Agent-Reach. The library hides what it can and surfaces clear errors when it can’t.
Who Should Care
Agent-Reach is a strong fit if you’re building:
- Research agents that need to gather sentiment or news from social platforms.
- Market intelligence agents that watch specific communities (Reddit subs, Xiaohongshu tags) for product feedback.
- Content agents that pull transcripts from YouTube and Bilibili for downstream summarization.
- Personal agents that let you ask “what’s the discourse around X today” without juggling six tabs.
For teams running a multi-agent setup, having one tool that handles platform access uniformly reduces both integration cost and the surface area of bugs.
Summary
Agent-Reach is a pragmatic CLI that gives an AI agent a uniform interface to a handful of important social platforms. It isn’t a magic “the agent can browse anything” claim — it works best on the platforms it explicitly supports, and read-only by design. For its target use cases it’s a meaningful productivity multiplier versus maintaining your own scrapers.
